Greenrock Skateboards are nearly here!
We’ve been building prototypes and testing boards for nearly a year now and have put two models, the PsychoPhish and the Pintail, into production. We’re Stoked!
This is the PsychoPhish, a 41" bamboo and carbon fibre composite board with concave, camber, nose rocker and a slight kicktail. It’s taken quite a long time to get this board right due to the complex curves we were looking for. We wanted a board that would come as close to the feeling of surfing as possible and we’re happy with the result. This board is happiest carving down hills but tighten up the Seismic 180’s and it has no problem going fast either, rolling on 78mm Seismic wheels. Because of the 30 degree trucks and the nose rocker, this thing will turn on a dime - combine that with its positive flex, perfect for pumping, and you’ve got a great board for cruising and doing the pedestrian slalom.
We also wanted to do a more traditional longboard so here’s our bamboo pintail. Nothing fancy here, a good looking pintail shape made from solid bamboo. At 12mm thick, it’s rock solid with just enough flex to keep the ride smoothe. At 40 inches it is plenty long for cruising and noseriding but not so big that it becomes cumbersome.
All of our boards are hand made and hand painted. This allows us a certain degree of customization. We will be offering custom artwork later in the year. We’ll put a downloadable template on the website for you to do your own artwork on, then send it to us and we’ll do our best to replicate your art on your board.
Because we are gripping our decks with a super clear grip, you can have artwork done on the decks (like the two boards here) as well as the bottom if you want.
We’re still working on our popsicle deck. We have some new bamboo coming this week that will (hopefully) let us get the bends we need for a proper street deck. As soon as that design is finished we’ll be starting on a slide deck.
Because bamboo and carbon fibre are very expensive
materials to build with, our boards won’t be cheap. Knowing this we decided to also offer the same designs made from birch ply (all of our original prototypes were made this way and we still ride them). Doing this allows us to offer the same high quality, custom skateboards at a much lower
price. We really want our boards to be ridden, not just hanging on walls!
We will have stock boards on the website around August and will be able to start taking custom orders around October. We will offer the same no question return policy as we have with our Little Green Rock clothes - if you think the board is shite, send it back!
27 Feb 2008 - It’s alive! Our retail site is now live.
You can now buy directly from the website! I won’t bore you with what we have had to go through to get to this day. We have loads of friends to thank for their help and loads of visitors to thank for their patience after we had to endure setback after setback.
We will be unveiling our bamboo shorts, trousers, hats and a few other bits at the Surf Shop expo in September. The design is completed on these and work on the prototypes has begun.
Unfortunately we will not be able to sell our men’s hoodies this year. I’m afraid that the hoodies were not up to our standards and I refuse to sell ya’ll something that I am not proud of! We are hoping to be able to donate these to a charitable cause - I’ll let ya know what we end up doing with them.
We’re still working hard to get this website snag-free so please excuse the odd glitch here and there; I promise you it isn’t intentional.
Now go place an order!!
17 Dec 2007 - Finally, you can buy our stuff!
It’s taken nearly a year but you can now buy Little Green Rock bamboo clothes in actual, real stores. Cloud 9 and Earth, Wind and Water now have a small selection of our stuff on display. We expect (hope) that these small supplies sell out quickly so we can give ’em more stuff which will be ready around the middle of February.
If you are reading this from Khazakstan and would like a nice bamboo t-shirt, fear not; our online facility will be availabe from the beginning of February.
